Implant-Supported Dentures & Bridges in Laurel, MD
You may not think about your teeth often if they are intact and healthy. But when you are missing most or all of your natural teeth, it has a profound impact on your quality of life. Many people with missing teeth feel embarrassed about their smiles and struggle to eat their favorite foods. Dentures are a good solution, but they don’t quite replace the functionality of your natural teeth.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could replace missing teeth with a comfortable prosthetic that is just as strong and secure as your natural teeth?
Well, we have good news for you: you can!
At Garland Davis Family Dentistry, we can restore your smile with implant-supported dentures that give you a stronger, more secure bite. You can be proud of your smile again and eat your favorite foods without fear of your dentures slipping out of place. Keep reading to learn more about this incredible solution to adult tooth loss!
What Is the Procedure for Implant-Supported Dentures
Getting your new dentures is a relatively simple process, though it will take some time to complete. In general, the process goes as follows:
IMPLANT SURGERY
The day of your implant surgery, our team will make sure you are comfortable before the procedure.
PLACE THE DENTAL IMPLANTS
The oral surgeon will place the dental implants in strategic spots of your upper or lower jaw. They will go deep into the gums, just like the roots of your natural teeth.
TIME TO HEAL
Once your implants have been placed, you will need time to heal. This generally takes between two and seven months. The healing step is important because it allows your jawbones to begin growing around the dental implants, which creates a strong foundation for your new dentures.
IMPRESSION OF ARCH
After your body has healed, we will take an impression of your arch and use that to create your custom dentures.
ATTACH DENTURES
Finally, our dentist will attach your dentures to the implants so you can show off your new smile!
